The Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre (TPTC), sponsored by Netherland – will run a three weeks Military Peacekeeping –Intelligence (MPKI) Course (2022).
TPTC INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR MILITARY PEACEKEEPING –INTELLIGENCE (MPKI) COURSE (2022).
BACK GROUND
The lessons learned and best practices derived from recent UN peacekeeping operations have proven that the UN requires objective judgement on current situations and likely future situations based on an independent UN peacekeeping-intelligence capability.
This course provides the opportunity for future or experienced actors involved in peace operations to enhance their own professional skills in Intelligence Management (IM), with a goal to enhance the effectiveness of African personnel engaged in future peace operations. Intelligence management in times of crises is a critical issue considering the number of peace missions.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
A three-week course on Military Peacekeeping –Intelligence (MPKI) is conducted in English language only.
COURSE AIM
The aim of the Course is to provide situational understanding and predictive peacekeeping-intelligence products to better enable military peacekeeping planning and decision-making, provide early warning of threats to the life of UN personnel, both uniformed and civilian, provide early warning of threats to life within the local population in support of the protection of civilians and to enhance the mission leadership's understanding of the identification of risks and opportunities for the protection of UN personnel and civilians within the scope of the mandate.
COURSE MODULES
Objectives from week one to three will be to equip participants with intelligence skills and procedures to better support decision making and contribute to mission success, Intel-management in Decision making process; early warning; Intro to Joint Mission Analysis Centre (JMAC); information Cycle from collection to evaluation.
Also To train Participants on how to apply intelligence skills acquired in driving decision making and to assess participants understanding of, and ability to apply intelligence concepts taught.
TARGETED PARTICIPANTS
The course targets the TPDF officers of rank of captain who are likely to be deployed in UN/AU mission.
