TPTC AND DCAF CONDUCT TRAINING TO IDENTIFY BARRIERS TO THE PARTICIPATION OF FEMALE IN PEACEKEEPING
The Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Center (TPTC) in collaboration with the United Nations through the Switzerland Government Institution known as the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) conducted a training program to assess opportunities for meaningful participation for Women in peacekeeping operation within the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF).
The training was running for five days, from January 26, 2026 to January 30, 2026. The aim of the program is the building capacity to the participants so as they can carry out their duties professionally and effectively.
The participants of the training include Officers from the TPDF, Representatives from the United Nations Agency dealing with Women’s issues (UN Women), the National Bureau of Statistics and Lecturers from the University of Dar es Salaam. The training was funded by the United Nations through the Elies Initiative Fund under the supervision of UN Women. The guest of honor at the ceremony was the Commandant of the Military Medical School, Brigadier General Agatha Merry Katua.
