UNDP VEHICLE HAND OVER

The United Nations Development Programme (UNPD), under the sponsorship of the Government of Japan, officially handed over a vehicle to the Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre (TPTC). The ceremony,  held in Dar es Salaam in April 23, 2026. The ceremony was attended by Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces Senior Officers, UNDP representatives and diplomats from Japanese Embassy in tanzania.  This donation reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Tanzania’s role in international peacekeeping and enhancing the Centre’s operational capacity.

                            

Representative from the Japanese government and the Program Analyst of UNDP in Tanzania, Ms. Chizuru Horiba, emphasized that the sponsorship was part of Japan’s broader support for peace and stability in Africa. By equipping the Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre with modern resources, Japan aims to contribute to the effective preparation of peacekeepers that are deployed to conflict zones worldwide. The vehicle will improve logistical operations, mobility during training exercises, and overall efficiency in the Centre’s mission to train personnel for complex peacekeeping environments.

The Commandant of Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre, Brigadier General George Mwita Itang’are on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF)0 expressed deep appreciation for the support, noting that the vehicle will significantly boost their ability to conduct training programs and field exercises. They highlighted that the partnership between UNPD, Japan, and Tanzania demonstrates international solidarity in promoting peace and security. The handover ceremony concluded with renewed commitments from all parties to continue working together in advancing regional and global peacekeeping initiatives.
