TPTC Conducts United Nations Civilian Peacekeeping Training

The Tanzania Peacekeeping Training Centre (TPTC) has conducted the United Nations Civilian Peacekeeping Course with sponsorship from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Japan. The course was held at the Centre from June 8, 2026, to June 19, 2026.

                                          

The training comprised 22 participants qualified to serve in peacekeeping operations, emanates from Malawi, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. The Tanzanian participants came from defense and security organs as well as various civil institutions. The Guest of Honor at the closing ceremony was the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othman.

                                             

The aim of the training was to build the capacity of officers and soldiers so they can effectively carry out peacekeeping duties when given the opportunity to serve in United Nations operations.

                                                       

Speaking during the ceremony, Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othman emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without the participation of civilians in decision-making and leadership roles. He also noted that the participation of SADC member states indicates the cooperation that exists among these countries.
